A Pickens County mom finishes her GED class on a Tuesday night, and on Wednesday morning she sits at a car dealership trying to make sense of a loan offer. Should she sign? For too many of our neighbors, this is the moment where a single decision can mean years of debt, or the first real step toward stability. At United Way of Pickens County, we believe no one should have to face those moments alone. Your gift helps provide the free, practical financial literacy classes that give Pickens County adults the tools to make confident decisions and build lasting financial security.
Practical Financial Education, Built for Real Life
Many adult learners in Pickens County are navigating the financial world for the first time, or working to rebuild after a hard chapter. In partnership with the School District of Pickens County's Adult Education program, we offer free, on-site classes at the Adult Education Learning Center in Easley, taught in plain language and focused on the decisions our neighbors are making right now. Every class is designed to help students make informed choices, avoid predatory lenders, and build the kind of financial stability that lasts.

- What is interest, and how does it affect what I owe?
- How can I start building credit if I don't have any?
- What should I do if I have debt in collections?
- How do I set up a simple monthly budget?
A Partnership That Meets People Where They Are
Financial literacy classes are a partnership between United Way of Pickens County and the School District of Pickens County's Adult Education program. By delivering classes on-site at the Adult Education Learning Center in Easley, we remove the barriers of transportation, cost, and unfamiliarity that can keep adult learners from getting the financial tools they deserve. Students are already there, growing their skills and chasing a better future. We meet them right there.
